Dylan's First Easter Holiday 2009

News from Val Taylor and George Morrison and some images of 'the' handsome Dylan:

:::

Hi Sally,
Some photos of Dylan's Easter holiday; camping up Howqua Hills (towards Mount Buller). He had an absolute ball, especially during walkies through the forest, when he just went daft. When the enormous thunder/lightning storm, followed by hailstones/torrential rain came, we were anxious that he might be distressed in the back of the car whilst we tried to keep the tent semi-dry from the river running through the middle of it. We rushed out to check on him.....fast asleep and totally oblivious! Afterwards, however, I think he liked sleeping in the tent with us nice and cosy! (fortunately the only bit of the tent that kept dry was our wee sleeping bit).

I'm sure you will agree, he is truly a gorgeous boy.

Love to you and your Mum
From Val, George & Dylan xxx

Ace Goes Home

How lucky can a breeder be?

Ace lives about 4 kms from my home!

I can walk to visit him, ride my bike or just drive over.

He lives with Sharon and family right here in Cranbourne West :o)

That's Sharon on the left, her mum on the right and two of her three boys in the middle with Stan holding Ace.

Earlier that day Stan and his brother came with Richard & Xardiko and Zeta & I with the remaining puppies for a bush walk. That was so much fun for the pups . . .

Here is one image of the pups with Stan all worn out, LOL. Stan has faked it while the pups are still going.

More images of the A Gang can be seen on their Picasa Web Album.

The ACE  Picasa Web Album of really "Ace"  images can be seen here.

Indigo Arrives In South Australia

Indigo stayed an additional week before flying to her new home to live with Megan in Marino, South Australia. Megan had her final exam on November 12th 2008 and Indi was picked up by JetPets for her flight to Megan on 13th November 2008.

Megan tells me Indi has settled well and loves the beach :o)

Here are some images of Indigo's first day at her new home.

Tinker Bell Goes Home

November 19th, 2008 Lee and Chris came over to collect Tinker Bell and take her home.

I am so fortunate to have Tinker Bell living so close to my home . . . about 15 minutes, that's all.

Tinker Bell will have Digger, a handsome boy from Graystalker Weimaraners, as her play pal but will come for visits to my home when she comes into season and keep her aunt Zeta company for that time.

Lee and Chris have been a wonderful support during the time pu[pies were still at my home; helping with worming, ear cleaning, feeding, pedicures, manicures but most importantly they played a very big part in socialising of the A Gang.

Hugs for Tinks and Digger and many thanks to Lee and Chris for all their help and for giving tinks such a wonderful and loving home.

Dylan Goes Home

Dylan's day to go home was Sunday 9th November 2008.

Val had to be away this particular week end so it was George who came to collect Dylan.

I  might add Val was NOT happy that she would not be collecting Dylan but that is how things worked out. So on Sunday evening Dylan went for his second car ride with George, all the way from Bentleigh East to Tullamarine airport to pick up Val who was delighted to be greeted by Dylan.

I forgot to get a span of Dylan with George before they left my home but here is a couple of images of Dylan at his very best in his new forever home!

Jessie and Family

Saturday 8th November 2008 was a double sad day because Jessie was also going to her new loving forever home with Chris and her children. Chris has been waiting for this moment siunce March 2008 when she first contacted me about a puppy.

A few emails back and forth to each other, it turned out that Chris and I had a mutual friend.

Turned out Chris owned one of Jeanette Kimball's Weis some years back while some years back I use Jeanette beautiful boy Ch Jenndekk Kondor "Jake" over my foundation bitch, Duchess to get the "C" gang. From the "C" Gang came Ch Britfeld Classic Applause CD "Mindy" who was owned by Hedy and Campbell Pardey and who now own Britfeld Zippity Day "Milly" who is the dam of the (second time around the alphabet) A Gang.

What a small world!

Here is a picture of Chris and her children the day they took Jessie home.

Casper and Family

It's Saturday 8th November 2008 and Casper is going to his new forever home. For me, despite going down this road so many times previously, it is a sad time. I do not seem to get use to this moment but I am also happy to know Casper has gone to a loving and caring home.

Here is a picture of Casper with the Botros family just before leaving for his new home in Alton, Victoria.

You can see more images of the handsome Casper on his Picasa Web Album by clicking this piece of text.

Naming Names

The A Gang arrived on Thursday 11th September 2008. All 12 of them; 6 girls and 6 boys sadly though one girl died of a massive heart attack, leaving 11 to keep Milly very busy. I helped of course, but this is really about so many people who have made life so much easier for me during this very busy time which is not quite over yet:

Hedy and Campbell for trusting me to take care of Milly and allowing me to breed this gorgeous litter of puppies while on her stay in Cranbourne West, Victoria. Thank you Hedy and Campbell.

Richard Boots for taking such good care of Xardiko, who at the tender young age of 7 and a half sired this litter of 12. For taking annual leave the second week of the puppies lives to ensure that each got a good drink of milk from Milly and continuing to come each week day before going to work even when the A Gang went outside and was weaned, Richard comes to give them lunch and have a play with them. For going on long drives to bring wild game for the A Gang to eat and experience the joys of being a carnivore. For helping with the A Gang at the vets while getting micro chipped. For taking Archie and Ace to the vet for an ear check up. For taking another week annual leave and spending more time with the A Gang and of course taking Zeta for a walk occasionally. Truly a wonderful friend and one I could not have managed without.Thank you Richard.

Stephen Tilley for keeping the A gang in good supply of wild game, something these little carnivorous grey bundles of joy have unequivocally enjoyed and loved and in turn helping to keep my feed bill down a little. Thank you Steve.

My mum Barbara for keeping the A Gang in clean bedding around the clock, for getting up with me at 0430 each morning before I set of for work to help me feed the A Gang, for being ever so understanding during this time and for being supportive.

To Vania Panton, my boss, for being very flexible, supportive and understanding when I asked for time off at short notice. In my many years of being in the work force, Vania is in but a very small group of bosses who I have worked for that has shown this level understanding. Thank you Vania.

To Lee and Chris Hinks for helping with the socializing and feeding of the A Gang. For helping with the beading of new name ribbons for the A Gang. The new name ribbons made Richard's job easier to know who is who, LOL. Britfeld Artica a.k.a Tinker Bell is a very lucky puppy to be going to live with Lee and Chris and their Mr Personality male Weimaraner Digger. Form helping with the pedicures and manicures, all 176 nails LOL and for helping with the worming of the A gang. Thank you Lee, Chris and Digger.

Willy, my butcher, who has been very kind to give me discounts of the meat, bones and organs for the A Gang. I am pretty sure he feels sorry for me and thinks I can not afford to eat because the A gang eat so much. Coinciding with the arrival of the A gang has been a weight loss program for me (I have lost 16.5 kilograms up to today) so I guess for Willy it made sense . . . I was looking thinner as I was spending more of the meat etc for the puppies, LOL.

Hells bells I hope I have remembered everyone and everything each and every one of you has done to help me during the A Gang development.

Puppies and People Everywhere

It has been a busy week end for the A Gang.

Saturday Amy & Glen, Stacey & Mark, Hedy & Campbell, Chris & family and Cheyenne, Carl jr & Karen came over to play with the A Gang. It was an all day event and the A Gang was all worn out >G<

Sunday Valerie and George came to see the A Gang and pick their boy then in the evening Lee and Chris came to help dish up dinner for the A Gang.

Each bowl is placed down very quickly. This is shortly followed by arranging the puppies so that each has its own bowl. That is followed by rearranging each puppy back in front of its bowl which lasts all of 2 seconds, then followed by a second rearrange and shortly after that a 3rd rearrange . . . It really is a feeding frenzy and we all realised the rearranging was a lost cause so it was every puppy for itself!

A Gang Venture Outside

This last week just gone has been a noisy one indeed. The A Gang began to suffer a bit of 'whelping box fever' to the point where Mr Light Blue ribbon boy escaped and did a litter 'Burke and Wills' exploring in the lounge room. Tail up head down, he sniffed his way past the lounge chair into the dining room and around the dining table before he was discovered and placed back into protective custody and security of the whelping box.

This was one of the signs that it was time to relocate.

To the A Gang their surrounds are not different in that the whelping box went outside and four walls (double glazed for insulation) and a roof went around and over it. The whelping box is still switched on and heating the base and the light which was attached to one side of the roof, stays on all night. There is a towel over the opening to keep the draft out and the whole whelping box enclosure stays lovely and warm but the difference is that the A Gang can leave of their own accord if they want to.

Leading to the opening, steps have been made out of pavers so that the A Gang can go back easier.

So Last night was their first night in the great outdoors.

They slept like babies.

Me on the other hand did not sleep much at all, venturing outside to check on them every second of every hour, at least it feels like it today; my eyes feel like there is sand in them for gross lack of sleep, LOL.

This morning the A Gang had their first drink of milk by lapping rather then drinking out of a bottle.

Well if you could have seen it; I use a muffin tin and started of by having four puppies drinking nicely but that soon turned to 'every puppies for him or herself' with paws, bottoms and faces in the milk and all over each other. Despite all that they did manage to end up with full bellies and went back to 'home base' for a well deserved rest after the feeding frenzy just gone.

I am about to upload a clip from this morning to YouTube so check back over there for it, though it will take a while to finish uploading.

Manicure and Pedicure

I don't think I have ever thought of cutting puppies nails in terms of quantity but this evening as I did each pups nails I was thinking "this is taking a while" I did a quick calculation and I was working my way through 176 nails . . .

. . . YES, you read correctly; 176 nails.

Now of course if this was nails on adult dogs who know about nail cutting and being nice and still, it wouldn't have taken so long but of course puppies have one thing on their minds . . .

. . . FOOD, and more FOOD as they attempted to suckle on my fingers, knuckles between my fingers; on any part of my hands that, remotely, may have been a source of food. This made nail cutting interesting to say the least.

Finally after an hour and 17 minutes the task was completed.

The A Gang Boys

Since purchasing my digital camera last year, it has never been used so much as it has since the birth of the A Gang, second time around the alphabet.

It is a bit tricky getting all the puppies as Milly does not have enough nipples for 11 whining little mouths so I do a little creative supervising to help her out.

Milly will lay on a wooly blanket which is next to the whelping box.

I will place the girls on her for a drink and leave the boys in the whelping box. Once the girls have had enpugh, I put them back and place the boys on her for a drink. While the girls were having a nice big drink I decided to change the ribbons on the boys and managed to snap a great picture of them.

Gee I hope I can get one like this with all 11 of them :o)
