Zeta and I had been in training since late 2007 for the Endurance Test which took place yesterday at KCC Park, Western Port Highway, Skye.
On Thursday before Zeta was at the veterinary surgery for a health check up to ensure she was in peak health and fitness for the 20 kilometre run she had to complete to be granted the ET Title (handlers had a choice of riding a push bike or jogging).
Zeta's health stats where great.
Vet was very impressed with her both health, fitness and temperament.
It was a late night the night before and an early start Saturday morning.
Vetting was between 0630 and 0745 with an 0800 start time.
The entry was particularly high so we were divided into two teams; red team was made up of 15 which included Zeta and I, the blue team was also made up of 15 and started 28 minutes after the red team.
Our judge was Ms Rebecca Sloan (Vic) while the blue team had Mr Ian Staniforth (Vic) as their judge.
It was still icy when the red team began the 1st leg (8 kilometres) of the 20 kilometre run.
At the conclusion of the 1st leg, all dogs were checked; pads, temperature and heart rate before being given the go ahead to proceed with the 2nd leg.
A 15 minutes break followed the vet check and we were all off again for the 2nd leg of 6 kilometres.
At the conclusion all dogs were check once again. I might add no one gave a brass razoo about the humans, LOL.
A 20 minute break followed before we were off for the 3rd and last leg of the 20 kilometre run.
I am proud to say Zeta is now known as BRITFELD ZIPPITY DO DA E.T.
We came home and straight into bed for me with Zeta curled up on top of the bed and we slept like little lambs.
